About the Song:
While at the mall a couple of years ago, my then four year old nephew, Spencer, saw kids lined up to see Santa Claus. Having been taught as a toddler that Christmas is the holiday that Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, he asked his mom, "where's the line to see Jesus"?
My sister mentioned this to my dad, who immediately became inspired and jotted words down to a song in just a few minutes. After putting music to the words, and doing a quick recording at home, he received a great response from friends. He sent the song off to Nashville without much response, except for a Christian song writer who suggested adding a bridge at the end of the first chorus. My dad then asked if I wanted to record the song to see what we could do with it. I listened to the song, made a few changes to the words to make it flow better, and we headed to Shock City Studios.
It was at the studio where Chris, owner and producer, rewrote the 2nd verse and part of the chorus... with goose bumps and emotions high, we were all hopeful and felt like we had something special. The demo was recorded in just under 2 hours and sent off again to Nashville... still no response.
Then 2 weeks before Christmas last year, my cousins Greg and Robbie decided to do a video to see what we could accomplish on YouTube. The first day we had 3000 hits and it soared from there. We received e-mails, phone calls, Facebook messages from people all over asking for the music, CD's, iTunes, anything... we had nothing. After a couple of meetings with Chris following the amazing response, we got serious. We headed back into the studio this past spring... this time with guitars, drums, bass, pianos, choirs... the real deal.... and here we are today.
Getting iTunes set up, a website put together, and loving that thousands upon thousands of Christians have come together... remembering the true meaning of Christmas. Out of the mouths of babes come profound truths that many adults can not understand. Hopefully Spencer's observation will cause people all over to reflect on the love of Jesus, and that one day we will all stand in line to see Him. We are most thankful to our Heavenly Father to have this chance to share our music with you. Merry Christmas everyone.
On Another note, BJ is simply blossoming! He started morning pre-k this year and has taken off! His speech has changed drastically and he is now talking in full sentences on a regular basis. James jokes that now he doesn't STOP talking!! LOL! Honestly, we are both thrilled! He has not caught up yet, but is making GREAT gains. He has also picked up some other (not so good) habits, but I'm sure you can imagine. :) In all I am so pleased with the progress he has made. His teacher is amazing and is meeting his needs as they come about. She isn't pushing him, but merely setting the stage for natural development to occur. Despite my anxieties for sending him off to a "pack of wolves," (I think that's how I mentioned it a few months ago)he has really proved me wrong.
Potty training however, continues to be an issue. He thinks it's "hysterical" that he goes in his pants! Oh he tells us, but thinks it's pretty funny! Seriously, why does he need to pick, going potty in his pants, as his way of showing control? He has the whole potty thing under control though. He will go through all the steps complete with, wiping the seat and putting it back down, flushing, and washing his hands when he is done. Ughh! I don't understand! At least we have the "No" thing under control. For now anyway. He's been almost over compliant lately. I wonder if he isn't playing us knowing that Christmas and his Birthday are right around the corner?! LOL!
He is SUPER excited about Christmas this year! We've started a really neat Advent routine that is a lot of fun!. I'm not sure if I read it on a blog or if I got it from a magazine, but what you do is wrap 24 books and write numbers 1-24 on each one. Then for every day of advent, you have your child open up the book for that day and read it together. BJ LOVES it! They don't all have to be "Christmas" books, but I did get a great deal from Scholastic for about half of them. Here is a pic of BJ with his day 3 book! I wrapped one too many so this night he got to open two!
BJ also got to visit Santa at the QC Festival of Trees. We weren't going to have him do it, but he noticed him and no one was in line, so we took him over. He actually ran up to Santa and jumped in his lap. Santa himself laughed until I'm sure his "bowl full of jelly" hurt! Notice his eyes in this picture! LOL!

What a cute picture with Santa :) we also open a book a day during Advent, Lucas loves it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to hear how well BJ is doing at school! I know you were very concerned about that, but how wonderful that it has turned out so well! And that picture of him at the top of the blog - he looks like such a big boy now! I can't wait to see him soon and hear all of that talking!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a beautiful song! Thank you so much for sharing the video. This is the first time I heard the song, definitely one of the best Christmas songs. I just love the picture of BJ with Santa and the one with his books as well. He is too adorable. I am so happy that he is doing so well in school and with his speech. He has come a long way. I am sure he will pick up the potty training soon. Maybe he has been so busy catching up in other areas that he just hasn't focused on that part yet. He will get there.
